Car Bottom Furnace
Innovative car bottom furnace design. Advanced, lightweight modular
construction utilizing ceramic fiber modules (Moldatherm® or equivalent
brand) to achieve large-scale economies in a number of important areas.
Temperature range to 1800°F.
Moldatherm consists of a helically coiled, high-temperature alloy heating
element vacuum-formed directly into a lightweight ceramic fiber insulation.
Moldatherm’s low thermal conductivity allows use of thinner walls;
the reduced mass requires much less power to bring the furnace up to
temperature. In fact, the car bottom saves up to 30% of the energy required
by conventional brick-lined car bottom furnaces.
Another advantage is exceptionally fast temperature response. The car
bottom can go from room temperature is less time than a brick-lined furnace
can go from idle to working temperature. With the car bottom, you don’t
have to waste energy on weekend or off-shift idling either. The furnace
also allows, when available, maximum utilization of off-peak power rates.
